Hotel and Hosts
When was the hotel founded?
The Löffele was first mentioned in documents in 1790 and was probably a post station at that time. In 1936/37 it was purchased by Martin Waldner's grandparents and operated as an inn.
Who are the owners and hosts?
The Hotel Löffele is run by the Waldner family. The operator is Waldner GmbH with managing director Martin Waldner. Vanessa and Lukas already represent the fourth generation working in the business.
How many rooms does the hotel have?
The hotel has 37 rooms.
At what altitude is the hotel located?
The hotel is located at 800 m above sea level.
Where is the Hotel Löffele located?
Our family-run hotel is located in Weißbriach in the Carinthian Gitschtal, between Gailtal and Drautal. Our address is Weißbriach 88, 9622 Weißbriach, Austria. Lake Weissensee, Lake Pressegger, and the Nassfeld region offer numerous excursion opportunities.
Arrival and Departure
Are there free parking spaces?
Yes, the parking spaces at the hotel are available free of charge to our guests.
Is it possible to arrive by public transport?
Yes. Depending on your direction of arrival, take the train to Hermagor or Greifenburg and from there continue by bus or taxi to Weißbriach. If arriving by long-distance bus, choose Villach main station as your destination.
Is there an airport transfer?
For transfers to and from Weißbriach, you can contact the provider Gitschtal Reisen. The nearest airports are Klagenfurt and Salzburg as well as Venice and Ljubljana.
Is there a hotel shuttle service from the train station or airport?
We are happy to organize a transfer for you from Klagenfurt, Salzburg, Venice or Ljubljana airports (for a fee).
Are there e-charging stations?
Yes, there is an e-charging station directly at the hotel. You can use it for a fee.
From what time can I check in?
Your room is available from 2:00 PM on the day of arrival. If you arrive after 6:00 PM, please notify us by phone at +43 4286 228 or by email at info@loeffele.at.
By what time do I have to check out?
We kindly ask you to vacate the room by 10:30 AM at the latest.
Can I arrive earlier or depart later?
An earlier check-in or late check-out is possible subject to availability.
Is there a late check-out for an additional charge?
A late check-out is possible for an additional fee.
Rooms and Amenities
What types of rooms are available and how large are they?
There are double rooms Löffele with approx. 24 m² and Laube with approx. 27 m² for two to three people each, living studios Sonnblick with approx. 34 m² and Tratten with approx. 38 m² for two to four people each, as well as the apartments Sonnleiten with approx. 40 m² for three to five people and Reißkofel with approx. 55 m² for four to eight people. Additionally, we offer the family room Berggeist and various apartments. The apartment Weißbriach has approx. 40 m² and accommodates two to four people.
Can we book a family room with separate sleeping areas?
Yes. The family room Berggeist consists of two opposite double rooms: a double room Laube for the parents and a double room Löffele for the children. Our apartments and selected apartments also have separate bedrooms.
Do all rooms have a balcony?
No, it depends on the chosen category. Many rooms and living studios partially have a balcony. The apartment Reißkofel has a balcony, the apartment Sonnleiten does not. Please specify your balcony preference when making your inquiry.
Are all apartments located directly in the hotel?
No. The apartments Mösslacher and Mösslacher Deluxe are about 400 meters from the hotel. You can use the offered hotel services at the hotel. The apartments Weißbriach, Golz, and Gitschtal are located in the annex and are only accessible from the outside.
Are there rooms or apartments with a kitchen or kitchenette?
Yes. The apartment Mösslacher has a kitchen with a seating area. The apartments Mösslacher Deluxe and Weißbriach each offer a kitchenette.
Are the rooms non-smoking rooms?
Yes, all our rooms are non-smoking rooms.
Is there a minibar?
No, there is no minibar.
Is there a coffee machine and a kettle in the room?
No, there is no coffee machine or kettle in the room.
Are the rooms air-conditioned?
No, the rooms are not air-conditioned.
Are there allergy-friendly rooms or rooms without carpet?
Yes, the rooms are equipped without carpet. If you have an allergy, please inform us directly when making your inquiry/booking so that we can take this into account.
What kind of bedding and blankets are available for allergy sufferers or with down?
We offer allergy-friendly bedding. Please specify this directly when making your inquiry/booking.
Are the rooms completely darkenable?
Our rooms have curtains, but we do not offer complete blackout with blinds.
Families and Children
What play options are available for children?
Right at the hotel, children will find a playground with a sandbox, swing, climbing frame, and bouncy castle. The hotel also has a children's play corner. In summer, the nearby adventure outdoor pool offers further opportunities for playing and swimming.
What baby and child equipment is available in the room (cot, fall protection, changing mat, bottle warmer)?
Cot and fall protection are gladly available on request.
Are baby monitors available in the hotel?
A baby monitor can be borrowed free of charge at the hotel reception.
Is it allowed to park strollers in the hotel?
Yes, you can park the stroller directly at the rear entrance or in the ski cellar.
Are high chairs and bibs available?
High chairs are available in the restaurant area.
Is there childcare?
No, there is no childcare, but there is a playground and play area in the hotel.
Is there safety equipment such as socket covers and stair gates?
No, there are no socket covers or stair gates.
Catering and Allergies
What does the Verwöhnkulinarik PLUS include?
Our Verwöhnkulinarik PLUS includes a rich breakfast buffet, a lunch package from the breakfast buffet, cake and ice cream daily from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, as well as a four-course dinner with three dishes to choose from. Additionally, there is a children's buffet with two main dishes and salads, themed buffets twice a week, and non-alcoholic and hot drinks from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. In summer, a mountain hut breakfast on the Berggeisthütte is also included once a week.
Which drinks are included?
From 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, non-alcoholic drinks such as cola, Fanta, Sprite, juices, and mineral water, as well as coffee, tea, and cocoa at the all-inclusive bar are included. Alcoholic beverages are not part of the included drinks.
Are lunch packages available for excursions?
Yes, a lunch package from the breakfast buffet is part of our Verwöhnkulinarik PLUS.
Is there a special meal for children?
Yes, our little guests can help themselves at the children's buffet with two main dishes, salads, and other offerings.
What can I expect at the mountain hut breakfast?
In summer, a mountain hut breakfast takes place once a week at our Berggeisthütte. There you will find local products and a beautiful view of the mountain world. You can hike to the hut on foot or ride with the tractor.
Are there offers for allergy sufferers and intolerances, such as gluten-free or lactose-free dishes?
We ask you to inform us of any allergy or intolerance directly when making the inquiry/booking. We are happy to prepare gluten- and lactose-free dishes for you.
Can vegetarian or vegan dishes be offered?
Our menu includes a vegetarian dish daily.
What other services are included in the stay?
In addition to the Verwöhnkulinarik PLUS, you can use our Relax Oasis with sauna, infrared cabin, relaxation room, and small fitness room. In summer, you benefit from the Nassfeld +CARD holiday and free admission to the Weißbriach adventure outdoor pool. In winter, the ski pass for the Weißbriach ski area is included from one overnight stay.
Wellness and Swimming
Is there a wellness area?
Yes, our Relax Oasis offers a sauna, an infrared cabin, and a relaxation room. Use is included in the stay.
Is there a fitness room?
Yes, the hotel has a small fitness room with an ergometer and stepper available for you.
Where can I use an indoor pool?
You can visit the swimming pool at the Weißbriach spa hotel for an additional charge.
How far is the Weißbriach adventure outdoor pool?
The adventure outdoor pool is about a five-minute walk from the hotel. It offers, among other things, a large slide, a children's paddling pool, a sunbathing lawn, and a beach volleyball court. Our hotel guests have free admission. The opening period is from early June to mid-September.
Is there lake access for hotel guests?
Yes, in the summer months our guests enjoy exclusive private access to the Oswaldbad at Pressegger Lake. There you will find a well-kept sunbathing lawn, swimming opportunities, and the restaurant Zur Seehexe with snacks and drinks.
Summer Vacation and Guest Card
Is there a guest card with benefits for mountain railways and admissions?
Yes, in summer you receive the Nassfeld +CARD holiday free of charge with your stay. Depending on the season, you can use regional bus services, the Nassfeld summer lifts, and swimming admissions at Pressegger Lake without extra charge. Additionally, there is an exclusive hiking program, guided mountain bike tours, and up to 30 percent discount on other leisure activities.
Are there guided hikes?
Yes, our included services feature guided hikes five times a week. The Nassfeld +CARD holiday also offers a hiking program.
What activities are possible in summer?
Around the Löffele you can hike, cycle, mountain bike, swim, and do Nordic walking. Further excursion options include gorges and ravines, the rock labyrinth, the flying fox mile, and the summer toboggan run at Nassfeld. Depending on the offer, additional costs may apply or you benefit from discounts with the +CARD holiday.
Winter holidays and skiing
Is the ski pass included in the holiday?
Yes, the ski pass for the Weißbriach ski area is included starting from one overnight stay at Hotel Löffele. With the Ski for free offer, you get a ski pass for six days in Weißbriach when you stay for seven nights.
Is the Weißbriach ski area suitable for children and beginners?
Yes, the manageable ski area is especially suitable for families and ski beginners. It offers a practice area with a magic carpet as well as about five kilometers of easy to medium difficulty slopes.
How far is the Weißbriach ski area from the hotel?
The ski slope in Weißbriach is 1 km from the hotel.
How do I get to Nassfeld and is there a free ski bus?
A free bus shuttle takes you from the hotel to the valley station in Tröpolach. The journey takes about 30 minutes. The included ski pass of our house is valid for the Weißbriach ski area.
Are there ski courses for children?
Yes, the Flaschberger ski school in Weißbriach offers courses for children as well as for beginners and advanced skiers. Our house guests receive selected ski courses at a special price. The courses can be booked directly at the ski school.
From what age can children participate in ski courses?
Participation in the ski course is possible from the age of 4 years.
Is there a ski rental at the hotel or nearby?
The Flaschberger ski school at the valley station in Weißbriach offers ski rental. Our house guests receive a ten percent discount there.
Is there a ski room and facilities for drying equipment?
Yes, the hotel has a ski storage room, a boot dryer, and a drying room available.
What can I do in winter if I don't ski?
The region offers winter hiking trails, cross-country skiing opportunities, a lit toboggan run, and ice skating on Lake Weissensee. Visiting our Berggeist hut is also part of the winter experience. The use of the toboggan run and natural ice surfaces depends on weather and operating conditions.
Prices, Booking and Offers
How can I request a vacation?
You can reach us via the inquiry form on the website, by phone at +43 4286 228 or by email at info@loeffele.at. Please provide us with your travel period, the number of adults, as well as the names and ages of your children.
Are the room prices per person or per room?
The prices listed on the room page are per person and night with a minimum occupancy of two adults. For package offers, the specified length of stay applies.
How much is the local tax?
The local tax is 4.50 euros per person (from 17 years old) and day.
Are there special offers or discounts for children?
At selected dates, we offer free weeks for children. Children up to 15 years old stay free with a minimum stay of three nights and a minimum occupancy of two adults and one child. For summer, there is also a "Mom/Dad with Child" offer: with one full-paying guest, the overnight stay for the first child up to 15 years is discounted; each additional child receives the child rate.
What minimum stays apply to the mentioned offers?
For the free weeks for children, a minimum of three nights is required. The Bergaktiv 5=4 offer includes five nights and Ski for free applies from one overnight stay. The offers apply in the specified travel periods.
Are there general minimum stays, for example during holiday periods?
In the main season over New Year's Eve, there is a minimum stay of 7 nights. During the semester break, a minimum stay of 3 nights applies.
Cancellation, Deposit and Insurance
What cancellation conditions apply?
General validity for summer and winter:
Free of charge up to four weeks before arrival; thereafter, up to 14 days before arrival, retention of the deposit; for later cancellations, 80% of the travel price.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, a deposit of 30% of the travel price is required within 14 days after booking.
Which payment methods are accepted?
You can pay your final bill in cash, with EC or debit card, as well as with Visa or Mastercard.
Do you recommend travel cancellation insurance?
Yes, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance.
What happens in case of late arrival or early departure?
In case of late arrival or early departure, the room price for the booked days will be charged.
Service, Pets and Accessibility
Is there Wi-Fi in the hotel?
Yes, our hotel has Wi-Fi.
Is Wi-Fi available in all rooms?
Yes, our Wi-Fi is available in all rooms.
Is there an elevator?
Yes, our hotel has an elevator.
Is the hotel stroller-friendly and are there ramps?
Yes, the hotel is stroller-friendly and there are ramps that can be unfolded.
Is the hotel accessible or wheelchair-friendly?
The hotel entrance is accessible. There is an elevator in the hotel to reach the rooms, but there are no accessible/wheelchair-friendly rooms.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are allowed with prior approval and for a daily surcharge of €15.00. Please indicate your pet when making the inquiry. Dogs are not allowed in public areas such as the bar, restaurant, dining room, and wellness area. The stay is without food; damages caused and extraordinary dirt will be charged additionally.
Is there a washing machine, dryer, guest laundry, or ironing service?
No, we do not offer any of the listed services.
Is there a pharmacy or doctor nearby?
Yes, there is Dr. Karina Rangger, a general practitioner in Weißbriach with an in-house pharmacy, about an 8-minute walk from the hotel.
Is there a supermarket nearby?
Yes, there is the Sparmarkt Weißbriach, about an 8-minute walk away.
Is there room service?
No, we do not offer room service.
Are there quiet hours or a night rest?
Out of consideration for our hotel guests, we ask that the outdoor playground is not used after 10:00 PM.
Are there smoking areas?
Smoking is permitted in front of the hotel and in the outdoor area.
Restaurant, Celebrations and Groups
Can I eat at Löffele without staying overnight?
Yes, in our inn we serve regional specialties and homemade products. Hot meals are available daily from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Table reservations can be made at +43 4286 228 or info@loeffele.at.
Can I host a celebration at Löffele?
Yes, our guest rooms offer space for weddings, baptisms, family celebrations, and social gatherings. We are happy to create individual menu proposals for your event.
Is the hotel suitable for group trips?
Yes, we also welcome group trips, conferences, and team events. The location offers numerous excursion opportunities in Carinthia and East Tyrol. We are happy to assist you in planning your stay.
